In today’s second session 4/3, we were introduced to 2 different microphones. As someone who doesn’t sing at all, all i knew about mics was that i don’t like them due to past unpleasant karaoke experiences. However, after coming in contact with the dynamic & condenser microphones, i kinda like mics, good quality ones!

The sound in a DYNAMIC microphone is created when a sound wave hits a diaphragm. The diaphragm is attached to a small metal coil. When the diaphragm moves, the coil follows then moves up and down producing a small current.

Dynamic microphones are good for withstanding high sound pressure levels. This makes them great for recording with loud background sounds or for use in a live setting, however if you’re in a recording studio where theres little background sound, then the CONDENSER microphone would be the better option.

The CONDENSER microphones contains a diaphragm, which is normally made of thin metal and another piece of metal called a backplate. Electricity is applied to both of these creating a static charge between them. Once a sound wave hits the diaphragm it vibrates and produces a small electrical current.This microphone requires an external source of power to function.

They are fragile, not waterproof and is much more expensive in comparison to the Dynamic ones.

It’s a free app/website that allows you to create your own music.

It was straightforward and super convenient even for someone like me who struggles to use technology 💻

This is what i came up with. I picked a super simple chord progression that i liked then combined it with two pre-recorded beats. 🎶
